Joe Commisso
CPA, CA, LPA
Barry became a Chartered Accountant in
1972 after studying at Queen's University.
He has been in public practice for more than 40 years. His areas of specialization include tax, estate planning, real estate taxation, accounting and auditing. Barry continues to attend various in-depth tax and accounting courses. He also enjoys managing real-estate development projects.
Joe received his CA designation in 1994 after earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto. He has worked in public practice for more than
20 years since joining Applebaum, Commisso in 1986. He became a partner in 2004. His areas of specialization include tax, estate
and tax planning, real estate taxation, accountancy, and auditing. He continues to attend various in-depth tax and accounting courses. In recent years Joe has served as treasurer of the Dufferin-Peel school board.
Derek graduated in 2001 from the Degroote School of Business at McMaster University. He earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a focus on accounting and economics. Upon graduation Derek worked at KPMG LLP for five years where he gained experience working in their financial institutions and real-estate division, as
well as their private enterprise department. Derek obtained his C.A. designation in 2005 and has been a valued member of Applebaum, Commisso LLP ever since.

Meet the Staff
Claudio joined Applebaum, Commisso
in 1978. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) in Economics from York University, and has his CGA and CMA designations. Claudio has extensive experience working with corporate
real-estate clients performing taxation and auditing. His expertise include working with corporate partnerships and auditing small, privately held businesses, as well as working in personal trust and corporate tax preparation.
Dana obtained her Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Toronto in 1996 and earned her CPA designation from the state of Delaware in 1998. She joined Applebaum, Commisso in the same year and obtained her CA designation in 2002. Her areas of specialization include auditing and accounting as well as personal, corporate and U.S. taxation. Dana has volunteered at CA tax clinics since 2005. She continues to attend various in-depth tax and accounting courses. Dana is active in the Taiwanese community and is currently a consultant and auditor for the Taiwan Entrepreneurs Society of Taipei/Toronto.

Jeremy has been an independent bookkeeper at Applebaum, Commisso since 2000. He has more than 20 years experience in public accounting, preparing corporate financial statements and both corporate and personal tax returns. His client experience ranges from various sectors including manufacturing, investment companies, retail, real estate and not-for-profit.
Norman is a proactive advisor recognized for bringing clarity to business operations, as well as for his strategic tax and business operations expertise. Norman’s industry experience includes unions, professional services, retail
and manufacturing. He brings more than
15 years in helping closely held businesses achieve tax-efficient operations. In addition
to helping clients manage ongoing corporate, partnership, and individual tax compliance issues, he also regularly advises his clients on their ongoing reporting requirements. Norman is experienced in reviewing and analyzing industry-specific business issues and recommending new processes.

Jeremy Weeks
Mustafa earned a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Mumbai in 1978. He also studied at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India where he earned his Indian C.A. designation in 1985. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience working in auditing and has been a part of the Applebaum, Commisso team since 2008.
John graduated from York University in 2016, earning a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a specialization in accounting. In addition, he completed
a Graduate diploma in Professional Accounting at York University in 2017
as part of the CPA educational requirements, and joined Applebaum, Commisso in the same year. He is currently in the process of completing both his practical experience and education requirements in order to attain the title of CPA.
Cosimo holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from McMaster University as well as a diploma in business from Mohawk College. Working in finance at TD bank has provided Cosimo with the tools to properly assist clients and provide clarity within business operations. Cosimo is currently working toward his CPA designation.
Jerome graduated from HEC Montreal in 2016, earning a Bachelor of Administration with a specialization in Professional Accounting. He obtained his CPA designation in 2019 and worked in a Ottawa medium sized firm from 2017 to 2019 before joining Applebaum Commisso LLP in 2020. Jerome is also fluent in French.
Kevin graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2020, earning a Masters of Accounting degree. He successfully passed the common final examination (CFE) later that year and joined Applebaum Commisso LLP shortly afterwards. Kevin is currently in the process of completing his practical experience requirements in order to obtain the CPA designation.
Having worked in a number of sectors including Non-Profit and IT, Jane brings a wealth of experience to her job as an accountant at Applebaum, Commisso. Jane earned her Master degree in Finance from the South-Western University of Finance and Economics in China and is currently working towards her CGA designation. Since joining the firm in 2009, Jane has been handling a variety of accounting functions such as bookkeeping, payroll and tax filings.
Marla has been an administrative assistant at Applebaum, Commisso since 2000. She is also a Commissioner of Oaths. Marla is a long time volunteer with the Airedale Terrier Rescue and Adoption organization.
Janet has been an administrative assistant at Applebaum, Commisso since 2001.
